The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is coming soon to consoles and PC.
With the scheduled console launch of The Elder Scrolls Online, the game is re-branding itself as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. The new name reflects the major change to the game’s business model from monthly “pay to play” to no subscription fee required.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited – Console Release
The release of The Elder Scrolls Online for the Xbox One and PS4 has been long overdue. Originally slated for a June 2014 release, the game’s console debut was delayed due to a number of implementation issues. That being said, the kinks have finally been worked out and The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will be released for next-gen consoles on June 9, 2015.
As mentioned earlier, ESO:TU will require no subscription fees. However, console gamers will need to be an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus member in order to play. The June 9th release will include all updates and content additions, including the highly anticipated Justice and Champion systems.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited – PC Release
Prior to the June console launch, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will become the PC standard starting on March 17, 2015. Current PC players are not required to purchase a new copy of the game — players will simply need to log in to their accounts and patch the client. Also, players will no longer be required to pay the monthly subscription fee.
ESO Plus Upgrade
While no sub fees are required for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, players can upgrade their account to an ESO Plus premium membership for $14.99 a month. Membership benefits include:
- Access to all future DLC releases
- An allotment of crowns to spend in the in-game Crown Store
- A 10% bonus to XP, gold gain, crafting research, and inspiration
