More Good News From Project Skywind

There’s more good news from the project Skywind camp. A second video titled The Making of Skywind II has been released. Skywind is the ambitious project currently underway by a group of dedicated modders working to rebuild the world of Morrowind with the Skyrim game engine (for more details please see our earlier article Skywind: Recreating The World of Morrowind). The scope of the project is huge, and should have every Skyrim and Elder Scrolls fan excited.

The Making of Skywind II video showcases the latest progress being made in project Skywind. The video runs almost 12 minutes in length, and gives an overview of the massive amount of new content added since the volunteer community’s last update. Some highlights include:

  • Crafting: The original Morrowind lacked a crafting dynamic, but a new system based on learning recipes from books is being implemented in Skywind, including Tailoring — a new Craft that allows players to create and dye clothing.
  • Voice Acting: All dialogue is being reworked to make NPCs more lively and conversational. Scripts are being reworked and voice actors are lending their talents to make NPCs come alive.
  • Music: The music in Skywind is completely original, created by dozens of composers with unique talents and sounds. As a result, each region in project Skywind has its own feel and melody to match its special atmosphere. You can listen to over 2 hours of amazing Skywind tracks here.
  • Concept Art: The amazing visuals of a reimagined Morrowind are being created by a group of dedicated artists. Project Skyrim now has a gallery on Deviant Art where you can browse some of the original artwork.
  • 3D Modeling and Landscaping: Every asset in the original Morrowind is being replaced in Skywind with updated meshes and textures. Morrowind’s Ghostgate is in the process of being revised and improved as well as dozens of creatures.

Project Skywind is a non-commercial, non-profit undertaking being completed by a team of volunteers. Elder Scrolls fans and talented individuals are needed to make the project a reality.
