The highly anticipated Pillars of Eternity RPG is releasing on March 26, 2015.
Pillars of Eternity, a new fantasy RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, launches tomorrow for PC, Mac, and Linux. Obsidian, as you may remember, was the developer of Fallout: New Vegas. To say that the company’s latest project is highly anticipated is putting it mildly — Pillars of Eternity raised close to $4 million on Kickstarter, making it one of the highest crowd sourced video games ever produced.
Pillars of Eternity RPG
Pillars of Eternity is a classic, party-based RPG that will allow detailed customization of the main character. This robust character creation system will give players the chance to give the character his or her own personal background through the choice of race, class, traits, skills, and appearance. Main features of this system include:
- Ability to play as any one of six Races (Human, Aumaua, Dwarf, Elf, Godlike and Orlan),
- Utilization of five core Skills (Athletics, Lore, Mechanics, Stealth, and Survival),
- Choice of eleven Classes (Barbarian, Chanter, Cipher, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Ranger, Rogue and Wizard),
- A unique Reputation System that allows players to side with different Factions (choices and actions will have game development consequences).
According to the game’s marketing materials:
Recapture the deep sense of exploration, the joy of a pulsating adventure, and the thrill of leading your own band of companions across a new fantasy realm and into the depths of monster-infested dungeons in search of lost treasures and ancient mysteries.
So gather your party, venture forth, and embrace adventure as you delve into a realm of wonder, nostalgia, and the excitement of classic RPGs with Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity!
There are no plans to port the game to consoles [source: Kotaku interview with game designer Chris Avellone].
