ESO Tiger Mount To Be Awarded To Core Players

eso tiger mount

A special ESO tiger mount will be awarded to core players.

This afternoon, Matt Firor, Game Director for The Elder Scrolls Online made a special announcement sure to please core players. According to this month’s The Road Ahead blog post on The Elder Scrolls Online website, Firor announced that players who have been with the game since the beginning will be awarded a special ESO tiger mount:

As I alluded to in our special ESO Live show on the day we announced Tamriel Unlimited, I’m very happy to share that we’ll be granting an exclusive mount to everyone who has been with us from the beginning: a special Striped Senche (giant cat) mount, given only to those who are eligible. If you see someone prowling the battlefield on one, you’ll know you’re looking at one of the core members of the community, someone who has been exploring Tamriel with us for quite some time.

The reward will be given out prior to the March 17th PC release of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

UPDATE: The tiger mount was not released prior to 3/17/15 as initially anticipated. The mount will be released within a week of the 17th, however — this according to the devs on ESO Live – Episode 13 (at 7:34 in the video).

UPDATE 2: The tiger mount was released today, March 19, 2015. If the tiger doesn’t arrive within the next few days, players are to contact The Elder Scrolls Online Team here. I’ve posted a screenshot of the mount at the end of this post.

The exclusive ESO tiger mount will be in addition to a nine month reward granted to members of The Elder Scrolls Online subscriber loyalty program (the Mask of Cheerful Slaughter). The gifting of both the ESO tiger mount and the unique costume mask is the first time ZeniMax Online Studios (ZOS) has rewarded loyal players with something other than a vanity pet. From the early comments posted on the official Elder Scrolls Online forums, it’s safe to say that players are very pleased.

I have literally had to buy this game twice. I bought in back in May of 2013 and lost being able to be reimbursed, because of where I bought it. I also purchased it again because, I am a total TES but and wanted to get before I missed out on the Imperial Edition PS4. I get upset because by the time I will be able to play it will be a year and a half after release on Computers. I can’t get access to a computer. So I sit and wait for the June 9, 2015 release. I have been loyal, but because I don’t play on computers I lose out on items, that only loyal computer customers get !!! How is that fair to all the Game console players ?? This game should have been released on computer and game consoles together !!! Now when June comes, all the console gamers will be rookies. Just because some of us won’t purchase a non-stop glitching computer system to play ESO !!! Sorry I don’t see how it is fair, I am disabled and won’t sit at a desk to play, so I buy it to play on a console while sitting on my couch and or my bed. This just sucks !!!! I am disappointed with how this company has strung Console gamers along !!

Hi DeWayne, thank you for your comment. I can definitely see your point. ESO for consoles was to be released very early on — a few months after the April 2014 PC release. Then in May 2014, ZOS announced they were delaying the Xbox One and PS4 release for 6 months due to “unique problems specific to those platforms.” Still more delays until finally (fingers crossed) the console release date of June 2014. In total, it’s been a 1 year delay. *facepalm*

My hope is that console players will be granted something special in the form of an in-game reward. Back when ESO was released on Steam, players who registered their games via Steam received a special Wolfhound pet unavailable to anyone else at the time. So there is somewhat of a precedent.

Yes, it’s definitely been a long time coming for console players, and it doesn’t seem fair somehow that they haven’t had the opportunity to play the game as-of-yet. That said, I’m definitely looking forward to June when tons of good gamers and fans such as yourself fill the ranks of Tamriel. I really think you’ll find a welcoming Community of players and Guilds willing to help and support everyone just starting out.

I let out the NOT in the following sentence; the performace from a console will NOT compete with a high end gaming PC.

I am sure console gamers will get something unique for the delay. One year is a long time to be delayed but PC gamers routinely have to wait for content these days due to the majority of gamers playing on consoles. Console normally get priority because it is a cheap affordable generic way to game at the cost of content, mods, and performance. So while you may have purchased the pre-order of this game, think of all of the pre-orders PC gamers have made only to wait one to six months down the line with those rare exceptions being a year or more like GTA IV, GoW, Halo, etc for release after consoles. Not to mention the poor optimization that has become the norm when we do get these releases late becuase they are ported from consoles which are nothing more than an outdated computer runnning on a proprietary operating system. The games normally run smooth for consoles because of the time and optimaization the developers put into them, not becuase of the hardware. Even so, the performace from a console will compete with a high end gaming PC which can range from $3k to $17k depending on what components and used and who makes it. The 17k is a Falcon Northwest running three GTX 980s, four 1T SSDs, and 64 gb of ram. The price gets insanely high if you replace the 980s with the Quadro cards at over $31k. So while you are complaining about waiting longer than PC gamers, think about the entry level cost of gaming from a generic platform to a high end PC.

I agree I’m not a pc gamer and the fact that I’ve been playing elder scroll games on console for the last 12 years or so makes me a upset that There’s items only pc gamers can have so me question is where are Yvette special items that only core console players can get. If this doesn’t get fixed I’m never playing elder scrolls again
P.s. ty out messed a really good system when ty out made elder scrolls into world of Warcraft. Thanks for screwing up one of my favorite titles

I agree I’ve been playing TES on console since morrowind, and am very disappointed in how console gamers are slapped in the face at every turn, where mmo’s are concerned. Where’s our loyalty reward? it’s not our fault you decided to release it on computer almost 2 freaking years before console, dev’s have no idea how upsetting it was to hear them continuously push back the release date further and further….. this is such B.S.

I hear where you’re coming from Omega, and I don’t disagree with console players’ frustrations. ZeniMax initially planned for the Xbox One and PS4 release for June 2014, and it didn’t happen (which was very disappointing). Looking at it from the other side though, it cost core players a 9 month commitment to ESO and $135 in subscription fees to earn the Tiger Mount reward. I believe it was simply intended as a nice gesture from ZeniMax to say “thanks” to their paying customers for their support, before the company changed course and eliminated sub fees altogether (which in the eyes of some PC players doesn’t seem fair).

I got the game the day it came out but my computer was broken so I started playing like 2 days after it came out. I have been paying monthly ever since. Will I still get the tiger mount or is it for the people that have been playing since day 1?

From my understanding, gamers will get the tiger mount as long as they have 300 days paid before March 16th. Sounds like you’ll be just fine, Lil 🙂

No, it’s not alright. I bought the CE for exclusives that they ended up giving to anybody. That was supposed to mean something. Then I dropped out for awhile because so much was broken, and when my guild bank was decimated by a player with the guild from launch, they blamed me, not the complete lack of guild control. Now I’m back, before F2P, and this. How about only CE owners, from BEFORE LAUNCH get to be Imperials? Selling an exclusive to everybody is an oxymoron. How long before the rest of us can pay cash for a tiger I wonder.

Hi Xenrae, thanks for commenting. I’m not certain if the Crown Store will start selling tiger mounts, but it appears ZOS is considering selling other senche cat mounts in the cash shop: http://skyrimfansite.com/spoiler-screenshots-new-eso-pets-costumes-mounts/

So essentially I preordered this game, they gave me a unplayable buggy mess, And even though I preordered i don’t get the free mount because i didn’t shell over $45? Oh and don’t forget the “crown rewards” that gave me JUST shy of enough for a mount, how much do i have to pay to get one? well minimum buyable amount is $8. This is a disgrace and is reprehensible. They screwed me over twice.

Hi Frank, thanks for writing! I’m glad you’re enjoying ESO. The game really is a lot of fun, and a great way to meet and hangout with fellow Elder Scrolls fans.

Unfortunately, the Tiger Mount was an exclusive reward given to players who subscribed to the game since the very beginning when it released on PC (April 2014). It was a way for the devs to reward players who maintained the $15/month subscription fee all those months prior to the game going buy-2-play.

Regrettably, there isn’t a way to get the Tiger Mount now. That said, the devs have released two additional big cats in the Crown Store — the Leopard and the Black Panther. Both were sold for a limited time only, but it’s a safe bet they’ll be back with possibly a Clouded Leopard and Lioness.

Disappointed. Love the series, played for years but unfortunately for those of us who deploy and are limited to consoles, there are just no breaks. Tiger mounts look great. Too bad it’s not an option for us.
